{"id":25,"date":"2021-10-24T19:16:05","date_gmt":"2021-10-24T23:16:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bsu.edu\/psychejournal\/?page_id=25"},"modified":"2024-01-19T16:27:16","modified_gmt":"2024-01-19T21:27:16","slug":"submit-a-paper","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.bsu.edu\/psychejournal\/submit-a-paper\/","title":{"rendered":"Submit a Paper"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">Eligibility<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Manuscripts by BSU students (current or graduated) will be accepted if the work\u00a0was\u00a0completed as an undergraduate.<\/li>\n<li>We review three types of submissions: (See &#8220;Formatting&#8221; section below for more information about each type of submission.)\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Research papers<\/strong> (i.e., Projects that included data collection and analyses, such as those written for PSYS 284, PSYS 492, PSYS 499, supervised research projects, independent study projects, etc.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Brief reports<\/strong> (i.e., Similar to research papers but shorter in length)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Review papers<\/strong> (i.e., Papers that provide a critical analysis of an important topic within psychology)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u200b\u200bArticles that have been previously published in any academic publication will not be accepted. By submitting a study to\u00a0<em>Psyche<\/em>, the author\u00a0is in agreement\u00a0that their material is not currently under review at another journal. Research that has been shared at a conference is permissible, however.<\/li>\n<li>Manuscripts accepted for publication in\u00a0<em>Psyche<\/em>\u00a0are still eligible to be published elsewhere in the future.<\/li>\n<li>\u200bAuthors are not required to be\u00a0psychology majors, but the research must be related to the field of psychology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">Submission Instructions<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><u><strong>To guarantee that your paper is reviewed and considered for publication, you should submit it by Friday, Feb. 2, 2024. <\/strong><\/u>\n<ul>\n<li>You may submit papers on a rolling deadline until <strong>Friday, March 1,<\/strong> but we cannot guarantee that any papers submitted after <strong>February 2<\/strong> will be reviewed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Papers should be submitted to\u00a0the\u00a0<em>Psyche<\/em>\u00a0email address (psyche@bsu.edu)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a\">All submissions must include a reference from a faculty supervisor (e.g.,\u00a0course instructor, research lab head,\u00a0etc.)\u00a0This reference should a) include the students author&#8217;s name and title of their paper; b) verify that the student wrote the paper; c) state whether IRB approval was obtained for the research discussed in the paper. (Projects without IRB approval may still be submitted.)<\/span><\/li>\n<li>If you paper is invited to be revised and resubmitted, please resubmit revised manuscripts through the\u00a0Psyche\u00a0submission\u00a0email.\u00a0Authors will have\u00a04\u00a0weeks to submit revisions.<\/li>\n<li>Authors of accepted manuscripts will have the option of submitting a picture and bio to be published with their article.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">Formatting<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Submissions should be formatted as Microsoft Word documents (.docx) and according to the guidelines of the most recent edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.<\/li>\n<li>Manuscripts should be double-spaced in 12 pt. Times New Roman font with 1-inch margins.<\/li>\n<li>All manuscripts must include the following sections:\n<ul>\n<li>Title Page: This includes the title of your manuscript, the\u00a0author\u00a0names, the\u00a0author\u00a0affiliations (e.g., your university), the public contact information for each author, and an Acknowledgements section if desired. The title page should be submitted as a separate attachment to ensure a blind review.<\/li>\n<li>Acknowledgements:\u00a0Thank the individuals who provided help during the research (e.g., help with collecting data, data analyses, writing, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Abstract\u00a0(250 words maximum): A brief, comprehensive summary of the contents of the article. This should be one single-spaced paragraph. Because the title page will be submitted separately, the abstract should constitute the first page of the article.<\/li>\n<li>Keywords:\u00a0Beneath the abstract, list up to five words or short phrases that are central and specific to your research. These words may be taken from both the title and the text. We will use these keywords to facilitate the retrieval of your paper from abstracting and indexing databases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Body of Research Paper:\n<ul>\n<li>Word limit: 7,500\u00a0words.
