Check back later in this space for some discussion of what we\u2019ve learned.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Over the spring and summer we will be completing the final editorial tasks before publication of\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Vulnerable Communities: Research, Policy, and Practice in Small Cities<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0 The volume collects a selection of papers from the last\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsu.edu\/academics\/centersandinstitutes\/cber\/events-affiliations\/small-cities-conference\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Small Cities Conference<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Cornell University Press will publish the book in early 2022.\u00a0 We\u2019ll have more to say as that date approaches.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> We&#8217;re also planning <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsu.edu\/academics\/centersandinstitutes\/cber\/events-affiliations\/small-cities-conference\/2020-conference\">another conference<\/a><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">, focused on regionalism for May of 2022.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">There\u2019s more:\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Center continues to run the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bsudsl.org\/edlmiddletown\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Everyday Life in Middletown<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0project, an ongoing effort to document ordinary experiences in Muncie, Indiana that builds on some of the concerns evident in the original Middletown Studies.\u00a0 January, 2024 will mark the 100<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0anniversary of Robert and Helen Lynd\u2019s arrival in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Muncie to begin the research that would produce\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Middletown: A Study in Modern American Culture<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0 We\u2019ve begun to plan how to mark that occasion and what we can do around that milestone to continue the research traditions established by the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Lynds<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0 And our current work documenting the experience of deindustrialization continues.\u00a0 You can find out more about these and other projects, past and present, in the Research and Reports section on this site.
