Third Way Civics (3WC) Summer Workshop<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This workshop introduces participants to the Third Way Civics (3WC) approach to undergraduate civic learning: an evidence-based, widely implemented and assessed strategy for fostering students\u2019 civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions while advancing content learning and other essential academic outcomes. Led by Dr. Trygve Throntveit<\/a>, educator and author, the workshop directly immerses participants in the same civic learning activities that students experience in 3WC-style courses, while also providing time to critique, imaginatively adapt, and redesign syllabi embodying the approach.<\/p>\n

The workshop will be held June 2 and June 3 from 9:00am-4:00pm at the Ball State University L.A. Pittenger Student Center<\/a>. Directions to the Student Center are located HERE<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The workshop will be held in Room 301<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Dress is casual. You might wear layers, as the temperature in the Student Center can vary. <\/p>\n

Pre-Workshop Assignments<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Full participation in (and compensation for) this workshop depends on completing a series of readings and short written responses ahead of time. Readings and prompts will be distributed no later than Monday, May 12, 2025.<\/p>\n

Cost and Stipend<\/strong><\/h4>\n

There is no cost to attend this workshop. Each registrant who participates, in person, in the entire workshop will receive a stipend of $600 to honor their commitment of time and to offset travel and lodging expenses. Invoicing and payment processes will be explained near the end of Day Two of the workshop.<\/p>\n

Meals<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A light continental breakfast will be provided, and all participants will receive a ‘Meal Card’ for lunch. Meals will be available in the Tally Food Court<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Lodging<\/strong><\/h4>\n

For lodging during the event, the Ball State Hotel<\/a> is the best option. The hotel is located on the third floor of the L.A. Pittenger Student Center<\/a>. We have a block of 4 twin rooms, 2 queen rooms (single bed), and 6 king rooms (single bed). You will receive a 15% discount when you pay. The block code is 2506WRK<\/strong>. We will hold these rooms until Friday May, 16th.<\/p>\n
