Promoting Global Citizenship and Democratic Engagement<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Short-term international exchange programs, such as the UNITED U.S.-Uzbekistan Exchange Program led by Ball State University, have provided data indicating their effectiveness in fostering global citizenship, leadership, and democratic engagement among youth. This program, funded by the U.S. Department of State, focused on Uzbek students and highlighted the benefits of cultural immersion, civic engagement, and leadership development.<\/p>\n

Key Findings<\/strong><\/h3>\n
    Participants demonstrated a significant increase in understanding community service and a 65% increase in understanding global citizenship post-program.<\/ol>\n
      Participants reporting strong knowledge of leadership rose from 14% pre- program to 41% post-program. 95% of participants noted improved critical job skills, supported by 80+ hours of workshops.<\/ol>\n
        Support for educational equity increased from 72.73% to 94.12%, reflecting a strong endorsement for inclusive education. Support for gender equity rose by over 11%, highlighting the program’s role in promoting equality.<\/ol>\n
          Participants’ understanding of the U.S. increased from 40.91% to 64.71%, emphasizing the value of immersive cultural experiences.<\/ol>\n

          Policy Recommendations<\/strong><\/h3>\n
            Increase funding to double participant capacity, focusing on underserved regions.<\/ol>\n
              Establish formal alumni mentorship programs to sustain long-term impacts.<\/ol>\n
