CREATE assists educators in finding civics-related lesson plans and activities in use in their classroom. The Resources for Educators tab on the CREATE website currently offers lessons and activities for Elementary, Middle, and High School teachers. More will be added as the site is developed. <\/p>\n

This months featured teacher resources come from Educating for American Democracy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Educating for American Democracy<\/a> (EAD) initiative was funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the U.S. Department of Education to create a strategy that increases exposure to history and civics for all students. Its Roadmap is a framework combines history and civics into strategies that increase students\u2019 literacy and inspire them to become involved in government. The EAD and Roadmap provide over 500 educator resources across the K-12 spectrum. For example, in Mount Vernon\u2019s \u201cBe Washington\u201d interactive challenge, high school students must make strategy and leadership decisions in four key scenarios actually faced by America\u2019s Revolutionary commander-in-chief and first President. Filters including Grade Level, Resource Type, Media, Source, and Theme supplement a Keyword search to make locating suitable materials quick and easy.<\/p>\n

Elementary<\/strong>: \u201cIndependence Day, the Fourth of July\u201d (lesson plan) \u201cA Sailor\u2019s Life for Me\u201d (interactive game) \u201cVisualizing Democracy with the National Portrait Gallery\u201d (virtual field trip)
\nMiddle School<\/strong>: \u201cNative American Cultures across the U.S.\u201d (lesson plan) \u201cCast Your Vote\u201d (interactive game) \u201cA Day That Lived in Infamy (Pearl Harbor\u201d) (multimedia)
