<\/p>\nThe Institute of International Education\u2019s Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) is the only global program that arranges, funds, and supports fellowships for threatened and displaced scholars at partnering higher education institutions worldwide, including inside their home regions. At the heart of IIE-SRF is the idea that each scholar we support is a beacon of hope in our world.<\/p>\n
Building upon IIE\u2019s century-long legacy of assisting students and scholars under threat, IIE-SRF has since 2002 supported 1,041 scholars from 62 countries in partnership with 469 host institutions in 55 countries.<\/p>\n

Reza Paikar, a recipient of the prestigious Institute of International Education’s Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF), has selected Ball State University\u2019s Teachers College as the location for his fellowship.<\/p>\n
Reza, who left Afghanistan following the Taliban takeover arrived in Muncie on October 29th to begin his work as the Teachers College 2022\/2023 Fellow for Economic Education.<\/p>\n

Reza was a lecturer, faculty member, Dean and Chancellor of Samangan State University. He has also worked as an English Language Instructor for the International Geneva Committee (ICRC), Mazar-e-Sharif. Reza has a master\u2019s degree from Ruhr Universit\u00e4t Bochum, Germany in economics and management Science. Reza\u2019s research has focused on education, child labor practices, and female participation in the labor force in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
Reza first became involved with Ball State through the Afghan Junior Faculty Development Program (AJFDP), which was organized and run by Dr. David J. Roof. This project was funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Embassy in Kabul. Ball State and Dr. Roof hosted a group of Afghan junior faculty members for a 10-week professional development program in India in 2019 and 2020. Reza weas instrumental in redesigning the economics curricula for universities in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
