{"id":60,"date":"2020-02-09T00:09:23","date_gmt":"2020-02-09T05:09:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bsu.edu\/capfablab\/?page_id=60"},"modified":"2026-02-04T15:40:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T20:40:07","slug":"cnc-routing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.bsu.edu\/capfablab\/cnc-routing\/","title":{"rendered":"CNC Router"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 data-start=\"252\" data-end=\"287\">CNC Router Training Requirement<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"289\" data-end=\"414\">Any student planning to use the CNC routers at CAP must complete required training with Makercorps staff or approved faculty.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Important:<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em data-start=\"436\" data-end=\"514\">The full training process typically takes <strong data-start=\"479\" data-end=\"500\">about three weeks<\/strong> to complete.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>If you plan to use the CNC router for a class project, you must begin training <strong data-start=\"596\" data-end=\"641\">at least three weeks before any deadlines<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"647\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Training Philosophy:<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Makercorps training is designed to help students become <strong data-start=\"705\" data-end=\"747\">independent, capable machine operators<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Our goal is to teach students how to safely prepare files, set up materials, operate the CNC routers, and troubleshoot basic issues themselves. Staff are here to guide, coach, and support learning\u2014but <strong data-start=\"951\" data-end=\"1026\">we do not run jobs on behalf of students or complete projects for them.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students are expected to actively participate in every stage of the process, from design through fabrication.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"644\" data-end=\"666\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Training Overview:<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"669\" data-end=\"723\">Basic CNC training requires a minimum of <strong data-start=\"710\" data-end=\"723\">six hours<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"726\" data-end=\"814\">Training sessions are listed on the Makercorps website: <a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/makercorps.org\/wood-cnc\/\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"782\" data-end=\"814\">https:\/\/makercorps.org\/wood-cnc\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"817\" data-end=\"885\">All sessions take place in the <strong data-start=\"848\" data-end=\"868\">Design Build Lab<\/strong> or at <strong data-start=\"875\" data-end=\"885\">Madjax<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"888\" data-end=\"950\">Training is led by Makercorps team members or approved faculty<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"953\" data-end=\"1061\">Training duration may vary based on trainer availability and the time needed to learn concepts and workflows<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1063\" data-end=\"1260\">For questions about the training process, please contact <strong data-start=\"1120\" data-end=\"1134\">Colby Gray<\/strong>.
